Lead Software Engineer (m/w/d)

We want to develop and run our software and IT ourselves – from our website, online shop and internal tools to automating our operations and building new, scalable business areas on top of our technology. We're looking for someone to take technical ownership of this area, think entrepreneurially and bring a passion for analog photography.

Your tasks:

Developing and operating our entire web application: the public website, the online shop and an internal dashboard we run the business with
Automating and simplifying our workflows with AI, including our own solution that delivers finished scans to customers automatically
Designing the system and database architecture, and running the production infrastructure (deployment, monitoring, security)
Analysing operational metrics and user behaviour as a basis for business decisions
Building and leading our IT department, including responsibilities in HR and recruiting
Helping develop new, scalable business areas based on our technology
Researching and applying for grants to digitise and modernise the business
Contributing to a multimedia exhibition project – technical concept, coordination and implementation of the digital components

Your profile:

Several years of professional experience in software/web development, ideally with some leadership or project responsibility
Strong skills in modern web development (TypeScript/React, Next.js or similar) as well as backend (e.g. Python) and databases (SQL)
Experience with system architecture, deployment and infrastructure (CI/CD, Docker)
Experience in systems programming (low-level/hardware-near, e.g. driver development, C/C++) is a plus
Business acumen: you make data-driven decisions and understand how engineering ties into the business – you're at home with KPIs, unit economics and lean product development
An interest in analog photography is a plus – ideally you shoot film yourself
Experience with automation and AI-supported solutions as well as data analysis
A self-directed, structured way of working and the drive to take ownership and build a team
German and English at C1 level; Turkish an advantage

Experienced Lab Technician (m/w/d)

We are looking for an experienced Lab Technician for our film lab. You will work independently with our equipment and bring solid knowledge of analog film processing.

Your tasks:

Film development C-41 (FujiFilm FP363SC) and B&W (Colenta)
Scanning with Fuji Frontier SP-3000 and Noritsu HS-1800
Color correction and quality control
Inkjet printing (Epson fine art printer)
Maintenance and care of lab equipment

Your profile:

Experience with Fuji Frontier minilab system
Confident handling of C-41 and B&W development machines
Knowledge of color correction and densitometry
Experience with inkjet printers (Epson or similar)
Reliable and careful way of working
Confident German; English and Turkish an advantage
Darkroom experience a plus – we are currently building an analog darkroom

Internship in the Lab

We offer internships in our film lab for anyone who wants to get to know analog development and scanning.

What you'll learn:

Film development on professional machines: C-41 (color negative) with FujiFilm FP363SC, B&W with Colenta processor
Scanning with Fuji Frontier SP3000 and Noritsu HS-1800
C-prints and inkjet prints
Handling different film formats (35mm, medium format, large format)
How a small lab works

You'll also be part of planning the build-out of a complete darkroom — including hand development and enlarging.

Internship as Web Developer

Date: 2025-02-01 · Location: Remote / Berlin

We are a small analog photography lab and shop in the heart of Kreuzberg. Besides our lab and store, we run our own website and online shop — and we're looking for a web developer intern who wants to help us build and improve it.

What we do:

We develop and maintain our website (Next.js, React) and the shop (Medusa, e-commerce).
We work on the frontend (UI, checkout, product pages), APIs, and internal tools.
We care about performance, accessibility and a good experience for our customers.

Who we're looking for:

You're learning or already comfortable with JavaScript/TypeScript and React (or similar).
You're curious about Next.js, modern frontend tooling and/or e-commerce.
You like to work in a small team, ask questions and learn by doing.
You don't need to be an expert — motivation and willingness to learn matter more.

What you'll do:

Support us with frontend tasks (components, pages, styling).
Optionally: small backend/API or tooling tasks, depending on your interests.
You'll work with our codebase, get feedback and see your work go live.
